MCBS priests launch new publication
The occasion of the Year for Priests has “necessitated to extend the boundaries of magazine world wide."
Cardinal Oswald Gracias accepting a copy of the publication from Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli The Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament has launched a new monthly magazine aiming to build Christian leadership and faith life in India, said a note from the congregation.
The note from Father Jaison Kunnel of congregation’s Emmaus Province in Kottayam said the new magazine, named “companion,” is the adapted English version of Karunikan, a Malayalam language publication of the congregation.
The occasion of the Year for Priests has “necessitated to extend the boundaries of magazine world wide,” said the note.
The magazine “is a stepping stone for us to provide theological updating to the whole world,” the note said adding that the pilot issue was released Feb. 12 at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India center in New Delhi.
Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, President, Pontifical Commission for Social Communications, Rome released it giving the first copy of the new publication to Cardinal Oswald Gracias.
A large team of media experts, theologians and journalists in India and abroad worked to finalize the content details and design of the magazine. Blessed Sacrament Father J Naluparayil, a noted Bible scholar is the chief editor of the new magazine.
