Tamil Nadu CRI approves draft

The Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry CRI leaders met to approve the draft of their Annual General Assembly held in January. They also discussed issues that affect the society.

The leaders of Conference of Religious India’s unit in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry met June 21 to approve the draft formulated during the Annual General Assembly early this year.

The meeting at Infant Jesus Shrine in Trichy had 72 Major Superiors, both men and women, and 12 delegates. They also deliberated on the issues that affected society in general.

The draft, which was framed during the January 27-30 General Assembly, focused on the challenges before the consecrated life in the backdrop of changing social culture, values and faith.

The draft statement which was approved at the meeting proposes to revamp ‘the initial formation of the young religious’ and ‘the ongoing formation of other members.”

The draft also stressed on formation of fomators and the ‘choice and training of the leaders’ of the religious communities.

The Religious also deliberated upon the rights of the minorities to get quality education.

Certain guidelines were issued to sisters, who work as staff nurses in hospitals in remote areas.

The Religious, during the meeting requested the Indian Health Department to give clear guidelines as to how the sisters can help the  poor who cannot afford medical treatment and who do not have access to medical facilities.

Many other practical issues were also taken up for discussion and decision-making during the meeting.

    The revamping of ‘the initial formation of the young religious’ and ‘the ongoing formation of other members" is the need of the hour. Let us not delay the porcess. we have to learn form our million people for whom we have socio-pastoral responsibilities.
