Salesian Archbishop Charles Bo of Yangon, one of the Myanmar's most experienced church leaders, has been appointed as the apostolic administrator for Pyay diocese
Archbishop Charles Bo has been appointed apostolic administrator for Pyay diocese Salesian Archbishop Charles Bo of Yangon has been handed further responsibilities with his papal appointment as apostolic administrator for Pyay diocese, following the resignation of Bishop Gregory Taik Maung.
Archbishop Bo is one of Myanmar’s most experienced Church leaders.
He was ordained bishop for Lashio in 1990 and has also been apostolic administrator of Lashio, bishop of Pathein and apostolic administrator of Mandalay archdiocese.
According to the latest entry in the official Catholic Directory, Pyay diocese serves 24,200 Catholics and covers 50,292 square kilometers in Rakhine state, in the extreme west of Myanmar.
