Two Salesians die in accident
A salesian priest and a brother of Guwahati province die in a road accident
File photo of Father Rajesh Ekka (Left) and Brother Vijay Toppo (right). Four people, including a Salesian priest and a Brother of Guwahati province, were killed when their vehicle collided head on with a truck at Singra in Assam.
The incident happened on Aug 28 when Father Rajesh Ekka (30) and Brother Vijay Toppo (28) were on their way to Tura in Meghalaya from Guwahati. The accident reportedly happened when the driver of the vehicle tried to overtake another vehicle.
Father Ekka died on the spot while Brother Toppo succumbed to injuries on his way to the hospital.
Father Ekka, who hails from Kumarikatta in Assam, was ordained few months ago as a assistant headmaster of Don Bosco Secondary School in Tura.
Brother Vijay, who is from Gittilpiri in Jharkhand, is the only catholic member in his family. He made his profession on May 22, 2004 and was doing his regency in Tura.
Their funeral took place in Tura on August 30.
Besides the two, the incident also claimed the lives of the driver of the vehicle Logik Rava and another person K A Augustine.
