Nazareth institution awarded
An institution run by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth sisters for mentally disabled children in Trichy, Tamil Nadu has been conferred with the ‘Best Institution’ award.

State Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin presented the award to Sister Sabina Mattappallil, who directs the center, at a function in Chennai on Dec. 3, the International Day for differently-abled.
Asha Deepam (light of hope) serves mentally disabled children from the weaker sections of society.
Currently, the institute cares for 95 mentally retarded children and their parents by providing awareness, early intervention and educational services.
Established 13 years ago, the institute provides vocational training to students. It also imparts mobility training to eligible candidates for Special Olympic Athletics.
Another program of the institute is to find suitable jobs for the mentally retarded students.
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth is based in Patna, Bihar.
