National Health Insurance for church personnel

Published Date: January 18, 2012

A Major Healthcare Initiative by CHAI.

The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) announces the launch of “CHAI-National Health Insurance Scheme”.

CHAI has formulated a comprehensive health insurance scheme covering hospitalization/ treatment in any authorized healthcare institution/nursing home/hospital.

There are a number of benefits and value added advantages to this scheme. Since it is a national scheme, transfers of members within the country will not affect the enjoyment of the benefit of the scheme.

Also all the CHAI member hospitals which are 20 bedded and above will become empanelled hospitals.

Identification Cards will be issued to the enrolled members.

Cashless treatment will be extended, if the hospitalization is in any of the empanelled hospital.

In case the hospital is not an empanelled one, expenses incurred would be reimbursed by the insurance company. An exclusive service cell at CHAI Central Office will be set-up to facilitate/expedite the insurance claims.

Service cells are being negotiated across the regions. It is a comprehensive health insurance package covering all the CHAI Member Institutions, priests and religious, and all those who are part of the Catholic Church as well as all the lay people who are working in Catholic Institutions in the country.

This was deliberated at CHAI’s 68th Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) in October 2011, at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, attended by more than 500 institutions.

CHAI invites you to join this first-ever national health insurance initiative of the Catholic Church.
