The Chapter of the Montfort Brothers of Delhi Province empowers themselves towards “authentic leadership… greater brotherhood” in search of a new beginning.

The representative group of 31 Brother of the Province of Delhi came together in CRI House, Delhi for a 4 days Chapter from 25-28 October 2011.

Facing the challenges of modern day religious crisis they showed their determination to go forward with the theme: “Towards authentic leadership for greater brotherhood.”

The Chapter is a worldwide congregational process to shape the future of the congregation in a fast changing world.

Initiating the process Brother Mani Mekkunnel who spent a day of animation with them spoke of the challenges to leadership roles today and the need to break all barriers in creating a new space.

“Today the world gives plenty of new opportunities” he said “for those who open their minds and discern the call of the Spirti”.

The Assistant General from Rome, Brother John spoke of the global process that is going on and expressed the hope that the Province of Delhi can be in the forefront of a searching organization.

The Montfort Brothers have 7 Provinces in India and is considered one of the success stories of congregation building. They are the fifth largest group of religious men in India and the first among the Brothers Congregations.

The Province of Delhi is spread to most of the northern States of India where the Christian communities are scattered and are still relying on missionaries from the south and some from the Tribal belt of India.

“The Chapter has placed the Province into a research mode and we hope to search the way of the Lord for our times” said the Provincial Brother Mani V.J.

“We have the capacity to lead to the future and we are confident to make it” said one of the participants, borrowing the confidence of the Founder of the Society, St. Louis De Montfort.
