Religious stress on living the Word of God
Around 40 participants took part in the program
A document highlighting the guidelines to be followed for an agreement between a diocese and a religious congregation in Andhra Pradesh was finalized during the 42nd annual general body meeting of the state unit of the Conference of Religious India (CRI).
It stated that the two parties should take into consideration their relationship in general and in other matters while entering into any agreement.
The Andhra Pradesh Bishops’ Conference and the state CRI finalized the document.
Father Johannes Gorantla rearranged it with necessary corrections and presented it before the meeting.
Around 40 participants, including major superiors, their representatives and the executive members of the 13 local CRI units were present at the July 9-10 meeting at Jeevan Jyothi, Begumpet.
Father Augustine Mulloor of the Order of Discalced Carmelites stressed on the Religious proclaiming and living the Word of God to the full and make known the presence of God to the world at large.
“We need to give importance and stick to the values from the time of formation in our religious life,” he said.
The newly installed Archbishop Thumma Bala of Hyderabad was welcomed by the religious and for the first time he celebrated the Holy Eucharist along with 10 more concelebrants on the second day.
He stressed on the importance of the Word of God “because it will reveal truth about ourselves to become people of prayer and of Charity.”
The prelate was felicitated with a shawl, bouquet and a gift as a token of love.
Carmelites of Mary Immaculate Father Varghese Koluthars conducted a session on Canonical issues related to Religious life and administration.
The APCRI members also got a chance to interact with a canonist, who clarified doubts raised by the religious superiors during the session.
Father Anthony Pothireddy, Provincial Superior of Society of Jesus congregation will replace Father Thomas Sebastian, Provincial Superior of the Order of Friars Minor (Capuchins) and Sister Annie Joseph of Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix will take over Sister Mary S. Kuriakose of Sisters of Charity of Sts. Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa as members of the executive body of the APCRI.
Sister Kuriakose has been chosen as the General Councillor of her Congregation and will be proceed to Italy for 5 years.
